Our Journey to Clean and Inclusive Beauty
The beauty industry is in the midst of a major transformation, which has led to our journey as a brand. Consumers are demanding transparency, gentler formulas, and brands that prioritize people over trends. But “clean beauty” can mean wildly different things depending on who you ask. Some brands focus on plant-based formulas. Others on sustainability. Others simply use it as a buzzword with no real meaning. For us, clean beauty is much more intentional. It’s about removing irritants, eliminating allergens, simplifying ingredients, and ensuring every product feels safe and soothing on sensitive skin.
But clean is only half the equation. True beauty also has to be inclusive, and inclusivity goes far beyond shade ranges.
Our journey started with one clear mission: to create makeup for people who rarely feel considered by mainstream brands.
Where Our Mission Began
We saw a gap in the beauty market; a gap filled with customers who felt left out, overlooked, or misunderstood by existing brands. Some struggled with allergies and sensitivity. Some couldn’t find shades that matched their undertones. Some felt overwhelmed by ingredient lists that looked more like chemistry homework than cosmetics. Many simply wanted makeup that made their skin feel comfortable while still giving them the look they loved.
This is the community we’re here to serve.
Our first step was understanding the real needs of sensitive-skin users, allergy-prone customers, and people who’ve historically avoided makeup because it never seemed to agree with them. Listening to their experiences shaped every decision that came next.
Redefining “Clean” in a Meaningful Way
For us, clean beauty means:
- No nut-derived ingredients
- No harsh botanicals
- No added fragrance
- No unnecessary fillers
- Simplified, readable ingredient lists
- Prioritizing skin-calming, barrier-supporting formulas
We don’t believe in fear-based marketing or demonizing every synthetic ingredient. Instead, we focus on what genuinely keeps the skin balanced, calm, and comfortable. If it doesn’t support the long-term health of the skin, it doesn’t belong in our formulas. Clean should feel soothing, not restrictive.
Developing Our First Foundation
Our first drop, a foundation designed for sensitive, allergy-prone, and combination skin, became the heart of our brand. It needed to be breathable, blendable, buildable, and entirely free from nut allergens. But it also had to be inclusive in tone and undertone.
We crafted a range that reflects real skin tones, not the overly warm or overly pink shades many brands rely on. Our shades were designed with everyday, real-world lighting in mind, not studio lighting. Because you don’t live your life under ring lights, and neither should your foundation.
Throughout development, we tested on people with eczema, rosacea, and highly reactive skin. Their feedback shaped the final formula, ensuring it performed beautifully without compromising comfort.
Inclusivity Beyond Shades
Inclusivity isn’t just a shade chart; it’s a philosophy.
It means:
- Describing ingredients in a language people understand
- Designing products safe for allergy-prone communities
- Ensuring neutral undertones are actually neutral
- Making formulas that look natural on textured, dry, or sensitive skin
- Creating products that feel like care, not compromise
Many beauty lovers have spent years feeling like they couldn’t participate fully in makeup, either because of ingredients they’re allergic to or because their skin just doesn’t tolerate most formulas. We want to rewrite that experience for them.
A Brand Built on Transparency and Trust
From the beginning, we’ve been transparent about what’s in our products and why. We believe trust is earned through honesty, not marketing language. Ingredient transparency, clear allergen disclaimers, and consumer education will always be central to who we are.
You deserve to know exactly what you’re putting on your skin and feel confident doing so.
Where We’re Headed Next
Our journey is just beginning. As we expand, every new product will follow the same philosophy:
clean, calming, inclusive, and entirely nut and allergen-free.
We’ll continue listening to our community, improving our formulas, refining our shades, and creating a brand that always puts skin health first. Beauty should never feel exclusive. It should feel welcoming, safe, and empowering. And that’s the future we’re building, one product at a time.
